Return of The Mystery Yaz Teammate!

When I first started my Yaz site way back in 1994, I briefly ran a Mystery Yaz Teammate feature. Well ... it's back!

Can you identify this fellow? Leave your guess in the comments section.

Who Am I?

    Is it Rico Petrocelli?

No. It definitely isn't Petrocelli BUT I'd only be guessing myself. Maybe a pitcher - the sideburns might hint at early 70s - maybe Sonny Seibert?

    Not Rico or Sonny.

He played for the Sox from 71-77 and was a top five contender for Rookie of the Year in 71.

I don't remember Doug Griffen being that promising - but I'm leaning more towards him. It don't look like Ray Culp - who was a lot more promising.

    Yup, Doug Griffin it is!

Here are the 1971 AL Rookie of the Year voting. I believe there was a sportswriter designated with a vote for every team. No idea how Griffin got three votes!

    1 Chris Chambliss CLE 11
    2 Bill Parsons MIL 5
    3 Angel Mangual OAK 4
    4 Doug Griffin BOS 3
    5 Paul Splittorff KCR 1
